Church Staff

After obtaining his undergraduate degree in 1995, Senior Pastor Jason Huebner served as a youth minister and Director of Christian Education (DCE), ultimately completing his Master of Divinity in 2015. He then served at various churches in North Carolina until receiving the call at Saint Peter in 2020. Pastor Jason is active with the Southport Oak Island Interchurch Fellowship (SOIICF) and a variety of other organizations. Click here for a full bio.

Associate Pastor Wade Brinkopf and his wife Chris have been at Saint Peter since 2022. Previously, Pastor Wade was in the ELCA for seven years and most recently served in Brush, Colorado. Both the Brinkopfs have assisted with ministry at Saint Peter since 2021 in the areas of worship leadership, preaching, altar guild, fellowship, visitation, and more. Office Manager Ginny Crane has been keeping us going at Saint Peter since 2022. With a background in technology, she serves as Assistant Technologist, managing both hardware and software as well as keeping up with member data in the church system and online. She also edits the weekly newsletters, bulletins and special publications, besides serving as the church bookkeeper. In her spare time, Ginny enjoys a variety of hobbies, and is a licensed pilot.

Parish Nurse Bess Holt received her degree in Nursing from UNC-Charlotte and practiced 46 years professionally. She’s been a Certified Case Manager, 10 years of which were for chronic and progressive diseases. She has worked in the Open Heart and Critical Care units at Mayo Clinic hospitals, in Outpatient Surgery at the Emory University Hospital system, and was a pulmonary specialist in Savannah. She also worked inpatient hospice in Wilmington for two years, and spent 17 years in surgical services. Today she spends her working time ministering through Saint Peter.

Parish Nurse Wendy McKernan has been a member at Saint Peter since 2005. Wendy holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing science. She has worked in hospital emergency departments, medical/surgical units, community nursing, and home hospice nursing. Her nursing interests include community education, dementia care, and serving her church family through ministry that promotes healthy mind, body, and spirit. Wendy’s enjoys traveling, hiking, sailing, and spending time with her husband, family, and friends. 

Parish nurse Nick Giannatasio began his medical career after serving in the Navy, earning his first nursing degree from the School of Nursing at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in 1978. Since then he has been an Operating Room nurse, worked at the state Psychiatric Hospital, and in a Renal Dialysis unit. After retirement he attended seminary, so some folks in our church remember the days when he was known as Pastor Nick! Today we value Nurse Nick for his vast nursing experience as well as his deep understanding of the importance of spiritual health.

Lois Moore began her position as Director of Worship and Music Arts in 2015. Besides conducting the choir, she oversees all things musical at the church, including planning, organizing, and developing ensembles, as well as producing concert events, such as the annual Advent Cantata Concert and Good Friday Service. Lois is a native of Niagara Falls, New York and is a retired Professor of Music. Her 33-year career involved all aspects of college music; teaching course-work, providing vocal instruction, and conducting choirs as well as musicals. In addition, she is an accomplished soprano soloist, with television and radio credits in addition to solo performances with philharmonics, professional choirs, operas, and musicals.

Associate Director of Worship and Music Rod Roskom started playing the organ at the age of thirteen. With just three years of formal lessons he began playing at church and has continued as an organist at various churches for more than 50 years. Rod has a degree in Electrical Engineering and worked as an Avionics Software Engineer for 28 years, retiring in 2016. He enjoys spending time with his wife Sharon and helping pursue her passion for gardening. Rod is also an acrylic artist. See RodRoskom.com for his full biography and art portfolio. 

Handbell Choir Director Cindy Ledbetter is active not only in music but with the shepherding program as a lead shepherd. When she’s not busy with bells and caring for members in need, she spends time with nearby family and friends.

Groundskeeper Joe Boehm hails from Islip, Long Island where he worked at Long Island MacArthur airport until the blizzard of 1978 convinced him to move southward. He ultimately settled in Southport and worked at Lowes, retiring after 15 years of service. Joe has been a member of Saint Peter since the early ’80s and has been serving as groundskeeper since 2021. At home Joe tinkers with his antique cars and reminisces about his years as an avid boater up north.

Webmaster and Treasurer Sally Lawrence is retired from a 30-year career as a technical writer and trainer. Her resume includes jobs at Verizon Wireless, Walmart Information Services, and the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality. When she’s not managing finances and social media, she enjoys her creative writing pursuits.
