The “For I Was Hungry Fund” was created by the Saint Peter Task Force in early April 2020 to help provide relief for individuals, families, and organizations in Brunswick County impacted by COVID-19. Within weeks, almost $30,000 in donations poured into the Fund. This was an incredible response from the caring members of Saint Peter.
In the next month, distributions from the For I Was Hungry Fund were made to Hope Harbor Home, Matthew’s Ministry, New Hope Clinic, Streetreach, Dosher Medical, Brunswick Family Assistance, Providence Home, and other Brunswick County organizations, individuals, and families. By July 2020, all but $4,000 of the original contributions were distributed. The administration of the Fund was turned over to the Saint Peter Outreach Committee.
The fund still remains, as a way to continue reaching out to our neighbors in times of need. At this time we use the donations to purchase Food Lion gift cards, which are given to those who stop by the church seeking a meal or food assistance.
