Pastor Jason Huebner

Reverend Jason W. Huebner was born into a loving Christian home in Woodstock, Il in 1973.
During high school, he attended a “Careers for Christ” weekend retreat at Concordia University,
Chicago, where he first sensed God’s call for the ministry. In 1995, he earned a dual degree at
Concordia University with a K-9 teaching certificate and was commissioned as a Director of
Christian Education DCE.

Reverend Huebner served three churches in fulltime ministry as a DCE and Youth Minister from
1995 – 2008. He chaired a Walcamp Retreat Committee serving thousands of kids. He also
specialized in foreign missions with ministry in Guatemala, Mexico, and the Navajo Nation.
In 1995 Reverend Huebner married his high school sweetheart, Amy Jung Huebner. She has
been a parochial and public school teacher, specializing in English as a Second Language. She is
currently teaching in the Brunswick County Schools. Together, Amy and Jason have two adult
children, Lillian and Jacob.

Reverend Huebner returned to school following God’s call toward ordination in the ELCA. He
earned his Master’s of Divinity Degree and was ordained on 3.14.15, or as he likes to call it, Pi
Day. Reverend Huebner served at the following NC churches in different capacities since 2004:
Saint John’s in Salisbury, Shiloh in Lewisville, Augsburg in Winston-Salem, St. James in Rockwell,
and currently Saint Peter in Southport.

Reverend Huebner has served on various inter-church and community committees such as the
NC Synod Book of Faith Committee, G2G church building committee, Southport Oak Island
Interchurch Fellowship, the city of Gurnee Turkey Trot, and was trained as a Forward Together
specialist for churches desiring consultants to assist in planning for new ministries. He also led a
Growing Young continuing Education study for NC Synod Rostered Leaders.
Pastor Jason, as most people call him, has many hobbies. He likes pickle ball, Euchre, fantasy
football, cycling, singing, and playing guitar. He enjoys traveling with Amy, making music with
his daughter, and helping his son with home improvement projects. He also likes meeting new
people in Southport, sharing God’s love, and inviting them to the community of faith at Saint
Peter.
